An important element of the Panchang, Yoga means the sum of the longitude of the sun and the moon. There are 27 Yogas in Vedic astrology, each spanning 13 degrees and 20 minutes each, or roughly 15 to 27 hours. It is based on the distance between or ‘addition’ of the distance between the sun and moon in the zodiac circle. The distance is first converted into minutes and then divided by 800 minutes (which is 13 degrees and 20 minutes). The resulting number before the decimal is the number of Yogas that have already elapsed at the time of calculation.
Book Your Astro’s free Yoga calculator helps you discover the Yoga that is in action today so that you can get ahead of astrological calculations.
It is important to note here that the impact of Yoga in Janam Kundali is different from its effect when determining muhurats in the Panchang.
