How Book Your Astro’s Tithi Tool Works

Vedic astrology follows the Hindu lunar calendar. One lunar day in the lunar calendar is called a tithi (date). In other words, it is the time taken by the moon to cover the 12 degrees away from the sun. This is different from the Western calendar where every day is considered to be around 24 hours. Tithis rises and sets during different times and can be anything between 21.5 hours to 26 hours. They are calculated on the relationship between the placement of the sun and the moon. For instance, between the Krishna (waning phase) and the Pratipada and Shukla Paksha (waxing phase) Purnima, different lunar days exist.  There are 15 tithis starting from pratipada and ending at poornima with a total of 30 tithis in the calendar.

Find out the exact alignment of the stars by simply filling out the date, month, year, and location in our tithi tool. Book Your Astro’s tithi’s tool presents tithi information along with other useful information such as month and the time period of Vikram and Shaka Samvat as per both purimanta (ending on full moon day) and amanta traditions (ending on new moon day). You can use Book Your Astro's tithi tool to find out whether today’s or some other tithi in the past or future is shubh for marriage, fasting, starting a business, and much more.

The Pairings Between Tithis, Varas (days): The Nature of Titithis

Tithis, by themselves, signify different things. For instance, Navami is considered inauspious, while ekadashi is preferred for religious activities such as fasts. Beyond their initial meaning, tithis are categorised as auspicious or inauspicious based on the day it falls on.
