Choghadiya, literally translated as ‘four hours’ or four ghadi, reveals the auspicious hours of the day to start a new task. Also known as ‘ChaturdShtika’ as per the Hindu calendar, each choghadiya is equal to ninety six minutes with each ghadi equal to twenty four minutes. Every day is divided into 8 equal parts or choghadiya. There is daytime and nighttime choghadiya, each lasting for 12 hours beginning at sunrise.
